TO BE AN NTFT OR NOT TO BE AN NTFT

by Vice President Carol Ann Santosusso, July 2012

Can you afford to live on less than 40 hours per week?

Do you like working 6 days a week, 6 hours per day or less?

Do you like starting at a different time every day?

Do you like losing benefits?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then go ahead and bid on an NTFT position. If the answer is NO then DO NOT BID on an NTFT position. NTFT positions are to be undesirable positions. We know there are management people telling clerks they have to bid on these jobs. This is NOT true. If you were a full-time regular clerk with 2 drop days at the signing of the current contract, then NOBODY can make you bid on an NTFT position. If you are a regular who received an excessing letter and you see a job on e-Reassign you like, then you may want to consider bidding that job, because if you wait for the mass excessing, chances are that job will no longer be available.

My advice to all clerks is, DO NOT BID ON THE UNDESIRABLE NTFT positions unless it is the ONLY option for you and your family. By NOT bidding on these undesirable positions, we show management we want our desirable full time positions!

In union solidarity,

Carol Ann Santosusso
